Debbie has trained in Europe's most prestigious culinary schools, including the Cordon Bleu in Paris and London, La Varenne in Burgundy, France and Avignonesi Culinary Center and Tenuta de Capezzana in the Tuscany region of Italy, the Emilia-Romangna region of Northern Italy, and most recently Southern Italy.
Locally, Debbie has guest lectured at Cal Poly Food Science and Nutrition Department, teaching Customs and Cultures in Food, and taught "Catering and Special Events" at Allen Hancock Junior College. She created the Children's Summer Cooking Camps through the San Luis Obispo Adult Education Program and has continued the program at her own facility.
Debbie holds a Speech Communications degree from Cal Poly. She has consulted for the Hearst Family as well as developed menus and trained the family's personal chefs. She has also catered many family parties at the Hearst ranch.
Debbie had a weekly television cooking show on local NBC affiliate KSBY for five years named "What's Cookin' with Debbie Duggan". Debbie has had a 30 minute cooking show on the Drive TV station called "California Cuisine with Debbie Duggan". Debbie consulted and then later was the Director at Buena Vista Edible Schoolyard in Bakersfield.
Debbie takes small groups of students and clients to Italy during the year to study Italian food, wine and culture. The trips always consist of "Hands On" cooking classes, unique visits to Artisan Italian chef restaurants and kitchens, wineries, historical food venues as well as notable cultural sites. The trips are guided by Pamela Sheldon Johns who has a highly acclaimed cooking school and bed and breakfast in Tuscany. Pamela has authored many Italian Artisan best selling cookbooks, including "Healthy Gourmet". The trips are exclusive and feature experiences one would never otherwise have. Pamela's fame has brought her incredible connections in the Italian food world.
